Haiku

Texas size plastics
Float in our waters and
Kill the animals.

Kate Paone
Chicago, IL

Limerick

I learned about photovoltaic
With panels that look like mosaic
Sun voltage and amps
To power our lamps
Should make fossil fuels archaic.

I m taking a class solar thermal
And follow the sun s path diurnal.
My face may not show
How much I now know,
But the grade at the end of the term ll.

Another resource is wind power
With turbines atop a high tower.
The wind on the hill
Can lower one s bill
To no cents per kilowatt hour.

You can tell I like energy clean
Burning coal, oil and gas is obscene
Wave power and tidal
Are not suicidal.
Our environment needs to be green

There was a tree hugger named Dave,
Who thought solar power was "rave!"
But he couldn't afford
En' an old power cord,
So a solar oven he made!
